Amazon Tightens Verification Measures

2024-06-25

Recently, many sellers have received emails from Amazon. These emails asked sellers to follow the rules for video verification and review. Otherwise, the security of their store would not be guaranteed.

It is mentioned in Amazon's notification email that sellers will lose their eligibility to sell if they do not reserve a video verification with Amazon within 7 days of receiving the email or do not submit the required information during the review period. Experienced sellers said it is very similar to the situation back in August last year, with the same timeframe and information requirements.

It is particularly worth noting that during the video verification, sellers need to provide the legal person's valid ID and the original business license, and both documents need to be originals, or they may fail. These pieces of information need to be consistent with what is provided when opening and registering the store.

It is known that most of the sellers who received video verification this time are those who have bought their stores. In the past, video verification was only used to review newly registered stores. According to many sellers' feedback, Amazon has gradually begun to employ video verification in the second review. It is evident that Amazon hasn't slowed down its compliance pace.

According to the inside information, the verification algorithm for which Amazon applied for a patent last year adopts a combination of hard and software to capture the actual location of the seller and the real payment tool information, together with machine learning to screen the existence of risky hidden store applications and existing stores. So it's probably because the new algorithm has begun running that the sellers received a video verification from Amazon.

Based on this algorithm, Amazon can capture the seller's hardware and software data to assist in the verification. If the verification is carried out in a location that is too far away from the business license address, there is also a particular possibility of receiving risk control. The above speculation has not been confirmed. But Amazon has truly adopted account-sweeping.

Recently, such a situation has happened often. The account from an unknown source triggers Amazon's risk control system. On the other hand, Amazon regularly sweeps unsafe accounts. The recent account sweeping is mainly targeted at the accounts registered from the second half of last year to the present. The verification can be passed if the whole set of the required information is provided.

Many sellers said that the reasons for their failure to pass the verification lie in that they didn't prepare enough information. According to the experience from the second verification, it's not sufficient to only provide the information Amazon requires. All the relevant information should be provided.

Required Documents

Legal person's ID card (original)

Business license (original)

Last three months of utility bills (non-invoices) OR

Account opening certificate of network broadband (with the official seal)

Credit card statements

Purchase invoices for products in the store

Statement and the comprehensive query vouchers of the public accounts (if any)

Comprehensive Information Inquiry Voucher Statement of Bank of China for Personal Use

Bank statements of payment account

In the second video verification, questions are a little more than when opening an account, probably including:

  1. Have you ever changed your password, email address, or cell phone number, and when and why?
  2. What is the store's credit card number? What are the last four digits?
  3. What is the store's payment card number? What are the last four digits?
  4. What is the bank and region where the bank card is opened?
  5. What is the registered cell phone number of the credit card? Which operator?
  6. Have you registered other accounts?
  7. Where is the office address? Is there any other store registered at this address?
  8. Does the store have any brand record? If any, show the trademark certificate.
  9. Is the brand registered or authorized? When? Spell the brand name.
  10. What is the meaning of the brand? Why did you register this brand?
  11. Type the name of the supplier
  12. What is the supplier's contact information and location?
  13. What is the way to log in to the store?
  14. Has the store ever changed credit cards? How many times? Why?
  15. Has the store updated the password? How many times? Why?
  16. Have you ever changed the registered email?(necessary as the email will be used to send information)
  17. Is the store registered by yourself or by the service provider?
  18. How did you deal with shop performance problems?
  19. How did you deal with negative reviews?
  20. Where is the IP address for video verification?
  21. What is the store balance? When was the last withdrawal made?
  22. When is the store subscription fee deducted?
  23. What is the store's operating time?
  24. What is the registration time and registration email address?
  25. What products does the store sell? What is the best-selling one? What have the sales been for the last 30 days?
  26. Who runs the store? What is the relationship between the operator and you? What is the operator's name?
  27. What is the registered email address? If it has been changed, what is the name of the old and new email addresses, and when did it change?
  28. When was the brand registered?
  29. What are the joint North American sites?
  30. When was the best-selling product sold for the first time? Why did you sell this product? What is the purpose?

I hope the above information will be helpful for the sellers involved in the second verification so they can pass the video verification smoothly.
